What they do
Mutanchi Lom Aal Shezum is a Lepcha community society with its office at Hee-Gyathang in Dzongu, in the Mangan district of north Sikkim, registered with the Registrar of Societies in February 1995. It works on ecotourism, community development, health and sanitation, education, rural development, women's empowerment, vocational training, handicrafts and cultural preservation in the Dzongu reserve. It facilitated the Geographical Indication applications for two Lepcha musical instruments, the Tungbuk and the Pumtong Pulit, which were granted national recognition in 2025 with support from NABARD in Gangtok. Its register entry records grants from the G. B. Pant National Institute of Himalayan Environment, from UNDP India and from the state Social Welfare Department between 2019 and 2023.
