    What they do

    People's Vigilance Committee on Human Rights (PVCHR) is a human rights organisation founded in Varanasi in 1996, held under the public charitable trust Jan Mitra Nyas. It works on extrajudicial killings, police torture, bonded labour, caste discrimination and child rights, supporting torture survivors and running model village programmes in eastern and western Uttar Pradesh. The organisation holds special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council, granted in 2022.
