    What they do

The Ant, formally the Action Northeast Trust, is a rural development trust based in Rowmari village, Chirang district, in the Bodoland region of western Assam. It works on women's economic empowerment through its Avahan and AAGOR weaving programmes, child protection and development, community health, and remote-area development, and it runs Project MITA, a low-cost rural mental illness treatment programme delivered through monthly camps across several Assam districts. It was founded by Sunil Kaul, a former army doctor, and Jennifer Liang, a social worker trained at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences.
