What they do
CUTS International, registered as Consumer Unity & Trust Society, was founded in Jaipur in 1983 by Pradeep S. Mehta after an investigation into short-changing in matchbox counts prompted a wider consumer rights campaign. It works on consumer protection, trade and competition policy, and regulatory governance. In India it has resource centres in Chittorgarh, New Delhi and Kolkata alongside its Jaipur headquarters, and it also runs centres outside India.
