GRAVIS is a society registered under the Rajasthan Societies Act, 1958, founded in 1983 by Gandhian development activists working in a cluster of villages in Jodhpur district in the Thar Desert. It focuses on traditional water harvesting and management, community health, sustainable desert agriculture, and rural development for marginalised desert communities. It has since expanded its work to parts of Uttarakhand and the Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh.
