What they do
Hunnarshala Foundation grew out of the rebuilding collaborations formed after the 2001 Kutch earthquake and was registered in 2003 as a not-for-profit company under Section 25 of the Companies Act, now Section 8. Set up by a group of architects, engineers and master artisans led by Sandeep Virmani, it helps communities rebuild homes using owner-driven, locally sourced and earthquake-resistant techniques. It is based in Bhuj, Kutch, and also runs Karigarshala, a training school for building-trade artisans.
