    What they do

Nari Gunjan is a Patna-area nonprofit founded in 1987 by social activist Sudha Varghese to work with women and children of the Musahar Dalit community in Bihar. It runs Kishori Kendras for adolescent girls, Anand Shiksha Kendras serving roughly 3,000 children, and Prerana residential hostels offering shelter and schooling to girls from the community. The organisation also runs health-awareness programmes and campaigns against violence and discrimination targeting Musahar women. Its founder was awarded the Padma Shri in 2006 and the Jamnalal Bajaj Award in 2023.
