    What they do

    Rural Women Upliftment Society is a women led development organisation based in Churachandpur, Manipur, founded in 1990 by the development department of the Independent Church of India and now run with full administrative autonomy. It is registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 with registration number 234, dated 3 April 1990, and holds 12A income tax exemption and FCRA registration number 194140018. It works on food security, livelihood and skill training for women, natural resource management, and clean and renewable energy access. Since the 2023 ethnic violence in Manipur it has provided food, medicine and other aid to people in relief camps. It is led by executive director Thlirnawnmawi Puruolte.
