    What they do

Shrujan Trust preserves and sustains the traditional hand-embroidery crafts of Kutch as a source of livelihood for rural women. It was founded in 1969 by Chandaben Shroff after she visited Dhaneti village during a drought and found that local women wanted paid embroidery work rather than relief handouts. Today it works with several thousand craftswomen across around a hundred villages of Kutch and also runs the Living and Learning Design Centre, a museum documenting Kutchi embroidery traditions.
