What they do
VSSM works for the rights and welfare of nomadic and de-notified tribal (Vimukt Jati) communities in Gujarat who lack settled land, housing and identity documents. Founded by activist Mittal Patel, the organisation says its work was initiated in 2006 and that it was formally registered as a trust in 2010. It runs programmes on housing, education, livelihood, water access and advocacy for caste certificates and land rights, and it is headquartered in Ahmedabad and works across several districts of Gujarat.
