Vidya Bhawan Society began as a school started in Udaipur in 1931 by Dr Mohan Sinha Mehta with K.L. Shrimali and K.L. Bordia, on Gandhian ideas of basic education. Registered as a society, it now runs a group of institutions including schools, two teacher education colleges, a polytechnic, a rural institute, a Krishi Vigyan Kendra and an ecological study centre. Its current president is Dr J.K. Taylia.
