    What they do

ARZ was set up in 1997 in the Baina red-light area of Vasco da Gama by development professionals from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences to combat trafficking of persons for commercial sexual exploitation. It runs a multi-part intervention it calls the MUKTI Model, covering prevention, rescue, victim rehabilitation and livelihoods, institutional care, research and training, and repatriation of survivors. It received the Government of India's Stree Shakti Puraskar in 2015 for its anti-trafficking work, and it continues to publish research on the scale of the sex trade in Goa. It is headed by co-founder and director Arun Pandey and is based in Vasco da Gama, Goa.
