    What they do

Peaceful Society is a Gandhian voluntary organisation registered as a society in Goa in 1983 and based at Madkai in Ponda taluka. Its own account names Kumar Kalanand Mani and Bharati Bandodkar as its two key founder members, alongside a wider founding group that included Madhav Pai Bir and Raju Bapu Talaunekar. It works on strengthening Panchayati Raj and local self-governance, women's programmes, community health and nutrition, and youth and marginalised-community development. It is also part of the Save the Western Ghats Movement and the Indian River Network, campaigning on Western Ghats conservation and river protection alongside its Swaraj self-governance work.
