What they do
Goa Foundation is an environmental action group founded in 1986 by Claude Alvares and Norma Alvares, working on forest protection, mining regulation and coastal conservation in Goa. It is best known for filing more than 300 public interest litigations, including cases that led to Supreme Court judgments curbing illegal iron ore mining in the state. The foundation also runs public education work on solid waste and plastic reduction and holds nominations on state and Supreme Court environmental monitoring committees.
