    What they do

Atma Swabhiman is a Dhanbad-based organisation working with people affected by leprosy and their families across leprosy colonies in the district. It was established under this name in 2009, growing out of a savings and community effort that founder Sailendra Prasad Saw, who was born in a leprosy colony, started among colony youth in 2004. It runs health and rehabilitation support, schooling for children, livelihood and skills training, and community development work across more than 30 colonies. It operates from the Bermasia Leprosy Hospital campus in Dhanbad and holds 80G tax-exemption status.
