    What they do

Ekjut is a health and community development society whose operational base is at Chakradharpur in West Singhbhum district, Jharkhand. It was started in 2002 by a founding group that included Dr. Prasanta Tripathy and Dr. Nirmala Nair, who first set up a village clinic near Chakradharpur. Its main method is participatory learning and action groups, and it reports that more than 100,000 women meet monthly in these groups to discuss maternal, newborn and child health, nutrition and mental health. It also runs creches, youth programmes, community-based rehabilitation for mental health, and work with the urban homeless, from offices in Ranchi, Keonjhar and Jaipur.
