    What they do

Avani, legally the Pan-Himalayan Grassroots Development Foundation, is a community-based organisation founded on 30 November 1999 by Rashmi Bharti and Rajnish Jain, headquartered at Tripuradevi near Berinag in Pithoragarh district. It runs a natural-dye textile programme through its Earthcraft cooperative, a bioenergy programme covering solar power, pine-needle gasification and clean cooking fuel, and the Abhivyakti primary school established in 2011. Its work centres on conservation-based livelihood generation and revival of traditional craft for rural Kumaoni communities.
