What they do
The Central Himalayan Environment Association (CHEA) is a society established on 2 October 1981 and registered in May 1982, headquartered in Nainital. It works through four thematic groups on climate change adaptation in mountain regions, rural livelihood generation for poverty reduction, promotion of Himalayan art, culture and handicrafts, and research and documentation of regional environmental practices. CHEA is registered to receive foreign contributions under FCRA, holds 12A and 80G income-tax status, and is accredited as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation by India's Department of Scientific and Industrial Research.
