    What they do

    CHIRAG, the Central Himalayan Rural Action Group, was founded in 1986 by the late Kanai Lall to work on rural development in the Kumaon Himalaya. Its head office is in Simayal village, Nainital district. It runs a rural health centre and preventive health and water and sanitation work, the Chirag School with girls' scholarships, watershed and spring-recharge forestry work, and livelihood programmes in agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry and financial training.
