What they do
Bakdil is a rural development society based at Lower Chandmari in Tura, working across all five Garo Hills districts of Meghalaya. It was registered with the Registrar of Societies in September 1987 under number SR/B-427/87 and holds FCRA registration number 214260024. Its main programme is a network of self help groups: it reports about 1,500 groups whose combined savings have passed ten million rupees. It also works on health, agriculture, education, microfinance and environmental conservation, and it runs a primary health centre that a 2020 press report identified as the first in the area to switch to solar power.
