What they do
Blind Lead Trust is a Shillong-based public trust, established on 26 June 2018 under the Indian Trusts Act of 1882, that works to protect the rights of blind and visually impaired people. It provides education, personal safety and assistive-technology training, a free hostel, and outreach and advocacy programmes aimed at helping young blind people become independent and self-sufficient. It was registered under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 in April 2022, and five of its six board members are themselves visually impaired.
