    What they do

Foundation for Democratic Reforms is a Hyderabad-based, non-partisan policy research institute founded on 5 November 1996 by Jayaprakash Narayan, an IAS officer turned civic reformer, after he left government service. It researches and advocates fundamental reforms in electoral systems, governance, the rule of law, public service delivery, and public finance, and is recognised as a scientific research institution by India's Department of Scientific and Industrial Research. It also runs civic-awareness and youth-education initiatives such as the Surajya Movement and Youth Parliament programmes, associated with the broader Lok Satta movement Narayan founded the same year.
