What they do
Maithri is a Kochi-based support organisation for people experiencing suicidal distress, working through trained volunteers who offer confidential emotional support by phone and in person. It was started on 17 June 1995 by a group of individuals concerned about rising suicide rates in Kerala. It is one of the earliest suicide-prevention helplines in the state and is listed among India's registered crisis-helpline organisations.
