What they do
Mental Health Action Trust (MHAT) is a charitable trust founded in 2008 in Kozhikode by psychiatrist Dr T Manoj Kumar to provide free, community-based mental health care to people who cannot afford private treatment. It uses a task-sharing model in which trained community volunteers act as the first point of contact for patients, supported by psychiatrists and other mental health professionals. MHAT has trained more than a thousand volunteers and runs clinics and outreach across parts of Kerala.
