    What they do

Samarthanam Trust for the Disabled works with people with visual, intellectual and other disabilities through integrated schools, vocational training, BPO-style livelihood units and rehabilitation centres. It also runs a mid-day meal programme for government school children and organises sport for the blind, including athletics, chess and cricket, at national and international level. It was founded in Bengaluru in 1997 by Mahantesh G. Kivadasannavar, who is himself visually impaired, and now has centres in several Karnataka cities and elsewhere in India.
