What they do
Vidhayak Sansad is a grassroots NGO founded by social activists Vivek Pandit and Vidyullata Pandit in Vasai, in what is now Palghar district, Maharashtra. It began by organising and securing the release of bonded tribal labourers around Vasai in the late 1970s and 1980s, discovering in 1980 that dozens of tribal families were held in debt bondage to local landlords. Since the mid-1990s it has focused on education, child rights and rural development among tribal and marginalised communities in the region, working alongside its sister trade union, Shramjeevi Sanghatana.
