    What they do

    Gramalaya is a water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) NGO founded in Tiruchirappalli in 1987 by Padma Shri awardee S. Damodaran, registered as a trust under the Indian Trust Act. It works on toilet construction and sanitation technology, menstrual hygiene management, school hygiene education and women's empowerment through self-help groups linked to water and sanitation services. It is recognised as a Key Resource Centre under the Government of India's Jal Jeevan Mission and has extended training and programme work beyond Tamil Nadu into states such as Odisha and Telangana.
