What they do
Grassroot is a Shillong-based NGO formed on 27 July 2007 to work with indigenous communities in Meghalaya from a rights and gender perspective. It runs capacity-building, skills development, sustainable livelihood and women's and youth empowerment programmes, and documents indigenous knowledge such as Khasi herbal medicine and folklore. It is registered as a society under the Meghalaya Societies Registration Act and operates mainly in East Khasi Hills, East Jaintia Hills, Ri Bhoi and South West Khasi Hills districts.
