What they do
NESFAS (previously the North East Slow Food and Agrobiodiversity Society) is a Shillong-based society founded in 2012 that works to revitalise and safeguard indigenous peoples' food systems in Meghalaya and the wider Northeast. It runs community-led agroecology learning circles, biodiversity mapping, school meal and nutrition programmes, and Mei-Ramew cafes that promote indigenous, agroecologically grown food. The organisation was founded by Phrang Roy, a Khasi agriculturalist and former Assistant President of IFAD, who serves as its Founding Chairperson.
