    What they do

SCAD is a rural development NGO founded in 1985 by S. Cletus Babu near Tirunelveli, initially working with gypsy communities and leprosy patients. It runs health and nutrition camps, disability rehabilitation, early childhood and school education, women's self-help groups, and support for farmers and fisherfolk across roughly 600 villages in southern Tamil Nadu. Its work is concentrated in the Tirunelveli and Thoothukudi districts, and the wider SCAD Group also runs engineering and polytechnic colleges and a hospital.
