Snow Leopard Conservancy India Trust (SLC-IT) is a registered trust working on community-based conservation of snow leopards and their habitat in the Trans-Himalayan regions of Ladakh and Spiti, including the Sham, Rong and Zanskar valleys. It was founded by Ladakhi mountaineer and conservationist Rinchen Wangchuk, growing out of the international Snow Leopard Conservancy programme into an independent Indian trust in 2003. Its work includes predator-proofing livestock corrals, running the Himalayan Homestays ecotourism network, handicraft development, nature-guide training, and wildlife education for local students. Ecologist Tsewang Namgail has served as SLC-IT's director since 2013.
